چکیده

Abstract Background Sulfur (S) has been widely used to alleviate cadmium (Cd) toxicity and control Cd accumulation in rice under waterlogging conditions. However, the results are contradictory, reasons remain unclear. This could be because most studies rarely simultaneously monitor processes of S-induced soil bioavailability throughout its growth period. A pot experiment was conducted investigate influence two sulfur levels (0, 30 mg S kg −1 ) on concentration translocation at three stages (booting, filling maturity) Paddy deficient but contaminated with (10.16 for experiment. Results application increased concentrations grain stage partially induced promotion transfer from roots stems, leaves, grains, fixation iron plaques stage. significantly reduced brown maturity stage, which attributed aspects, as described below. First, supply availability plaque root surface by reducing dissolved pore water transferring roots. Second, inhibited other tissues based factors roots, husks rice, were obviously lower than without Third, dilution biomass 215%. Conclusions decline related S-regulated among plants, a decrease S-deficient Cd-contaminated paddy study provides valuable information growing low-S risk humans. Graphical abstract

Influence of Cadmium Toxicity on Rice Genotypes as Affected by Zinc, Sulfur and Nitrogen Fertilizers

Cadmium (Cd) is among the most widespread and toxic heavy metal in several part of the world. Its toxicity in soil is becoming a severe threat to living organism worldwide. It is one of the main pollutants in paddy fields near industrial areas and highly toxic to plant growth and development of the plants. Cd can be easily taken up by plants and enter the food chain. Therefore, precautionary me...

Effects of sulfur application on sulfur and arsenic absorption by rapeseed in arsenic-contaminated soil

A pot experiment was conducted to study the effects of arsenic (As) and sulfur (S) interaction on yield and their accumulation and distribution in rapeseed (Brassica napus L.). The results showed that (1) at the same level of S treatment, application of As significantly decreased rapeseed grain and biomass yield; (2) Application of S significantly increased the grain and biomass yield of rapese...

EFFECTS OF CADMIUM, CHELATES AND PLANT GROWTH STAGE ON THE PHYTOEXTRACTION OF CADMIUM-CONTAMINATED SOIL BY MORNING GLORY (Ipomoea lacunosa)

Abstract: Phytoextraction is gaining acceptance as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly phytoremediation strategy for reducing toxic metal levels from contaminated soils. Cognizant of the potential of this phytoremediation technique as an alternative to expensive engineering-based remediation technologies, this experiment was conducted to (a) evaluate the suitability of morning glory a...

Effects of full and limited irrigation and contaminated soil on cadmium uptake by corn

Using plants for the remediation of soils contaminated with heavy metals is an economical, cheap, and effective strategy. The goal of this research was to study the effect of sewage sludge and drought stress on the remediation of cadmium in soil, root uptake by corn plant. This study was carried out on corn in factorial design experiment based on completely randomized design with three replicat...

cadmium absorption by tomatoes at different growth stages in polluted soil

environmental pollution by heavy metals is a growing global concern. most heavy metals accumulate in the top soil and in the long term, increased concentrations in the soil results in increased absorption and accumulation in plants. the usual concentration of cadmium in the soil is 0.001-2.4 mg/kg of dry soil. the level of absorption and accumulation in plants depends on the type of plant, tiss...
